SINOSSI
SYNOPSIS
A group of Indian illegal immigrants is dumped from a lorry in the Lazio countryside. Among them are a young man and an old man. The latter stops, exhausted, under a tree and asks the young man to fetch him some water. Narada – the young man – heads down into the valley, where he comes across a girl whose moped has broken down. He offers to fix it for her and, in return, she suggests he give her a hand at the trattoria she runs…
“This, I now realise, is the ultimate meaning of *Histoire d’eaux*: a return to Pasolini. I had planned to shoot the film in India, in Rajasthan, but unfortunately, pressing health issues forced me to abandon that plan and postpone the project, setting it instead in Italy, in the Agro Pontino, and I believe it was for the best, as it allowed me to incorporate the themes of immigration and ‘non-EU citizens’. It is clearly a dream; it is my vision of how I would like reality to be.”
