SINOSSI
Because I Am a Girl è un cortometraggio documentario animato realizzato insieme a ragazze adolescenti in Kirghizistan. Attraverso riflessioni personali, le ragazze raccontano le aspettative quotidiane e i ruoli sociali con cui crescono. Il film ascolta con attenzione il modo in cui queste norme vengono espresse, ripetute e accettate come elementi ordinari della vita di tutti i giorni.
SYNOPSIS
Because I Am a Girl is a short animated documentary created with teenage girls in Kyrgyzstan. Through personal reflections, the girls speak about everyday expectations and social roles they grow up with. The film listens carefully to how these norms are expressed, repeated, and accepted as ordinary parts of life.

Un collettivo di sette ragazze adolescenti del Kirghizistan. Questo progetto d’esordio è stato sviluppato all’interno di un laboratorio di documentario, dove le giovani autrici hanno utilizzato l’animazione per dare voce alla propria identità e alla propria capacità di azione sociale.

A collective of seven teenage girls from Kyrgyzstan. This debut project was developed in a documentary laboratory, where they used animation to articulate their identity and social agency.

La mia intenzione non era quella di interpretare o giudicare, ma di dare spazio alle voci delle giovani e al modo in cui raccontano la loro realtà – con calma, naturalezza e senza enfasi. L’animazione è diventata così una forma intima e protettiva per mettersi in ascolto.

This film was created as a collective animated documentary.
My intention was not to interpret or judge, but to give space to young voices and the way they speak about their reality – calmly, naturally, and without emphasis. Animation became a protective and intimate form for listening.
