BIOGRAFIA DEL REGISTA
Nato nel 2002, dopo aver vissuto la sua adolescenza a Massafra (TA), si appassiona alla fotografia e al videomaking e, una volta terminati gli studi di Liceo Scientifico all’IISS D. De Ruggieri, si trasferisce a Roma dove studia Cinema al DAMS di Roma Tre. Lavora come operatore di ripresa per un canale social internazionale e ha partecipato come membro di giuria giovani a diversi festival cinematografici, tra cui il Rome International Documentary Festival, il Trieste Film Festival, il Pordenone Docs Festival e il Salina Doc Fest.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY
Born in 2002, after spending his teenage years in Massafra (Taranto), he developed a passion for photography and videomaking. Upon completing his high school studies in science at the IISS D. De Ruggieri, he moved to Rome to study Cinema at Roma Tre University’s DAMS (Department of Arts, Music and Performance). He works as a camera operator for an international social media channel and has served as a youth jury member at several film festivals, including the Rome International Documentary Festival, the Trieste Film Festival, the Pordenone Docs Fest, and the Salina Doc Fest.
NOTE DI REGIA
Penso che sia una fiaba. Proprio come accenna il titolo, foriero di storie lontane da noi, avvolte nel fascino del mito e della fantasia. La stessa fantasia che caratterizza la tenera età di Michele, il quale davanti a una situazione nuova e profondamente diversa da quelle a cui e abituato, vista la sua classe sociale elevata, si comporta con la genuinità e l’innocenza propria dei bambini, in aperto scontro con l’ingiustizia che invece regna nel mondo degli adulti. Dal punto di vista registico, l’ispirazione principale è stata il Neorealismo italiano: una storia semplice non necessitava di un’estetica complessa. Per rispettare il punto di vista di Michele, la macchina da presa è sempre posizionata all’altezza dei suoi occhi. La scelta del bianco e nero, oltre a richiamare un determinato periodo storico, funge anche da espediente visivo del contrasto tra bambini e adulti.
DIRECTOR STATEMENT
I see it as a fairy tale. Just as the title suggests, it evokes distant stories wrapped in the allure of myth and imagination. It is the very same imagination that defines Michele’s tender age; when faced with a situation that is completely new and deeply different from what he is used to, given his privileged background, he acts with the natural authenticity and innocence typical of children – in stark contrast to the injustice that rules the adult world. From a directorial standpoint, the main inspiration was Italian Neorealism: a simple story did not require a complex aesthetic. To respect Michele’s point of view, the camera is always positioned at his eye level. The choice of black and white, besides evoking a specific historical period, also serves as a visual device to emphasize the contrast between children and adults.
