SINOSSI
Alla periferia di Lima, Chito, un bambino di 11 anni, vive con il fratello maggiore Rockío (16) in un quartiere sorto intorno a un immenso cimitero. Sul tetto della loro casa, Chito si prende cura dei suoi piccioni viaggiatori, volatili che trasportano droga per conto degli affari di Rockío. Chito condivide un legame unico con questi uccelli. Insieme ai suoi amici, il bambino vende fiori fuori dal cimitero; giocano e lavorano con allegria tra le tombe. Un pomeriggio, durante una partita di calcio giocata con il cimitero a fare da sfondo, la violenza del loro ambiente spezza le vite di Rockío e di un altro ragazzo del quartiere, ponendo fine in modo brusco all’infanzia di Chito. Attraverso rituali, musica e danza, la comunità piange la scomparsa dei giovani. Chito, distrutto dal dolore, imbocca una strada verso la vendetta. Tuttavia, un gesto di umanità cambierà il suo destino e quello dei suoi piccioni. Una storia sull’infanzia, la vita, la morte e la possibilità di trovare la libertà… lassù nel cielo.
SYNOPSIS
On the outskirts of Lima, 11-year-old Chito lives with his older brother Rockío (16) in a neighborhood built around a vast cemetery. On the rooftop of their home, Chito tends to his homing pigeons, birds that carry drugs as part of Rockío’s business. Chito shares a unique bond with these birds. Chito and his friends sell flowers outside the cemetery; they play and work joyfully among the graves. One afternoon, during a soccer match, played with the cemetery as their backdrop, the violence of their environment takes the lives of Rockío and another boy from the neighborhood, abruptly ending Chito’s childhood. Through ritual, music, and dance, the community mourns the dead children. Chito, shattered by grief, begins down a path toward vengeance. But a gesture of humanity alters his fate and that of his pigeons. A story about childhood, life, death, and the possibility of freedom… up there in the sky.

Roddy Dextre è un regista cinematografico e pubblicitario formatosi tra Perù, Cuba e Argentina. Ha sviluppato la sua carriera tra Perù, Cile, San Paolo e Messico. Come regista pubblicitario ha ricevuto diversi riconoscimenti prestigiosi, tra cui: Regista dell’anno al Cíclope Latino 2024, Grand Prix per la regia al FIAP, Grand Prix al Cíclope Latino, Miglior regista peruviano a El Ojo de Iberoamérica e Miglior regista peruviano ad APAP 2023 e APAP 2024. Il suo primo cortometraggio, Nessuno conosce il mondo (Allá en el cielo), è stato selezionato alla Berlinale Generation 2026. Attualmente sta sviluppando il suo primo lungometraggio, Il volo delle foglie (El vuelo de las hojas).
DIRECTORS BIOGRAPHY
Roddy Dextre is a filmmaker and commercial director trained in Peru, Cuba, and Argentina. He has developed his career between Peru, Chile, São Paulo, and Mexico. As a commercial director, he has received some prestigious recognitions: Director of the Year: Cíclope Latino 2024; Grand Prix in Direction: FIAP; Grand Prix: Cíclope Latino; Best Peruvian Director: El Ojo de Iberoamérica; Best Peruvian Director: APAP 2023, APAP 2024. His first short film, NOBODY KNOWS THE WORLD (ALLÁ EN EL CIELO), has been selected at Berlinale Generation 2026. Currently, he is developing his first feature film, EL VUELO DE LAS HOJAS (THE FLIGHT OF THE LEAVES).
