SINOSSI
Gorizia, 1930. Attraverso lo sguardo dell’operatore cinematografico dell’Opera Nazionale Dopolavoro (OND) fascista assistiamo alle marce e alle celebrazioni del regime. Immaginando la voce dei suoi pensieri, ci addentriamo nelle sue insicurezze e nel suo abbandono a un dissenso silenzioso. Le immagini restano, continuando a raccontare un tempo che non è ancora passato. / Il film fa parte del film collettivo Nostro Cine Quotidiano / Naš vsakdanji kino / Our Daily Cinema, realizzato da cinque registi (Jan Devetak, Ester Ivakič, Otto Lazić-Reuschel, Laura Samani e Francesco Sossai).
SYNOPSIS
Gorizia, 1930. Through the gaze of the cameraman of the Fascist Afterwork Club (OND) we see the regime’s marches and the celebration. By imagining the voice of his thoughts, we delve into his insecurities and his surrender to a silent dissent. The images remain, continuing to tell of a time that has yet to pass. / The film is a part of an omnibus Nostro Cine Quotidiano / Naš vsakdanji kino / Our Daily Cinema, created by five directors (Jan Devetak, Ester Ivakič, Otto Lazić-Reuschel, Laura Samani and Francesco Sossai).
BIOGRAFIA DEL REGISTA
Otto Lazić-Reuschel è un regista e produttore cinematografico nato a Trieste. Dal 2011 vive e lavora a Berlino; il suo cortometraggio When I Dance, the Earth Trembles, un piano sequenza ambientato a Berlino, è stato presentato al 24° Black Nights Film Festival. Dopo essersi diplomato alla ZeLIG, Scuola di documentario di Bolzano, il suo film Do You Get Me? è stato selezionato al 54° Visions du Réel e ha vinto il premio principale al DokumentArt nel 2023. Ha lavorato in diversi ruoli su set cinematografici internazionali e attualmente collabora con il Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Berlino. È inoltre co-fondatore della Zero Stress Production, una casa di produzione con sede a Trieste incentrata su documentari a tematica sociale e politica.

Otto Lazić-Reuschel is a film director and producer born in Trieste, Italy. Since 2011 he has been based in Berlin, his short film When I Dance, the Earth Trembles, a one-take set in Berlin, was presented at the 24th Black Night Film Festival. After graduating from the ZeLIG School for Documentary in Bolzano, his film Do You Get Me? was selected at the 54th Visions du Réel and won the main award at DokumentArt in 2023. He has worked in various roles on international film sets and currently collaborates with the Berlin International Film Festival. He is the co-founder of Zero Stress Production, a Trieste-based company focusing on social and political documentaries.”
NOTE DI REGIA
Dopo aver scoperto il Fondo Simonelli – il materiale d’archivio raccolto da Cristaldo Simonelli, il cui cognome era Simončič prima dell’ascesa del fascismo – sono rimasto affascinato da tutte quelle registrazioni realizzate dall’Opera Nazionale Dopolavoro (OND) fascista. Questo materiale, conservato da Kinoatelje, mi ha colpito fin da subito e mi ha spinto a riflettere e a immaginare come qualcuno con un’identità transfrontaliera potesse aver fatto i conti con il fascismo. Nel nostro caso, abbiamo cercato di metterci nei panni dell’operatore cinematografico che si trovava dietro l’obiettivo, in parte per paura e in parte per rispetto. Ci siamo immedesimati nei suoi ricordi e nelle sue speranze, immaginandoli attraverso gli occhi di chi, oggi, sa esattamente cosa è accaduto ieri.
DIRECTOR STATEMENT
After discovering the Simonelli Fund – the archival material gathered by Cristaldo Simonelli, whose surname was Simončič before the rise of fascism—I was fascinated by all those recordings made by the Fascist National Afterwork Club (OND-Opera Nazionale Dopolavoro). This material, preserved by Kinoatelje, immediately struck me and pushed me to reflect and imagine how somebody with a cross-border identity might have come to terms with fascism. In our case, we tried to put ourselves in the shoes of the cameraman who was standing, partly out of fear and partly out of respect, behind the lens. We identified with his memories and hopes, imagining them through the eyes of someone who today knows what went on yesterday.
