SINOSSI
Il Signor Coniglio non riesce a decidere cosa diventare da grande. Sopraffatto dal numero di scelte, preferisce fuggire nella propria immaginazione e creare minuscole repliche di se stesso. Osservando queste copie, esplora un nuovo mondo pieno di possibilità. Questa situazione gli piace, finché non commette un errore fatale: per colpa sua, perde una delle sue opportunità. Questa perdita prende il sopravvento sui suoi sensi.
SYNOPSIS
Mr Rabbit is unable to decide what to become when he grows up. Overwhelmed by the number of choices, he instead escapes into his imagination and creates tiny replicas of himself. Watching these copies he explores a new world full of possibilities. He enjoys this situation until one fatal mistake: through his own fault, he loses one of his opportunities. This loss overcomes his senses.
BIOGRAFIA DELLA REGISTA
Nikoletta Veress è una regista di film d’animazione ungherese nata nel 1996. Si è laureata con un Master of Arts presso la Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. In passato ha diretto diversi cortometraggi, pubblicato un fumetto e partecipato allo sviluppo di videogiochi e video mapping. Ama dare forma visiva ai dilemmi quotidiani, dipingendoli in contesti ultraterreni. Ritiene che depersonalizzare i personaggi aiuti a comprendere un problema anziché limitarsi a categorizzarlo.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY
Nikoletta Veress is a Hungarian animation film director born in 1996. She has graduated at Moholy-Nagy University of Art as a master of arts. In the past she has directed several short films, published a comic book and has participated in video game development and video mapping. She loves to visualize everyday dilemmas and paint them in an otherworldly environment. She thinks that depersonalizing characters helps the understanding of an issue rather than just categorizing it.
NOTE DI REGIA
Pensiamo che l’ignoto debba essere più emozionante di ciò che già conosciamo. Come possiamo accontentarci di un’unica strada, sapendo che esistono infinite possibilità? Una maggiore scelta dovrebbe logicamente implicare una decisione più facile e una risoluzione migliore; tuttavia, invece di sceglierne solo una, continuiamo a cercare opzioni sempre nuove, pensando che ce ne debba sempre essere una migliore. Il paradosso della scelta porta allo stress e, in alcuni casi, persino alla depressione. Tuttavia, il mio obiettivo era realizzare un cortometraggio d’animazione che si concentrasse anche sugli aspetti positivi. L’infinità della scelta può essere, in un certo senso, liberatoria: c’è gioia in tutte queste infinite possibilità. Attraverso il viaggio del Signor Coniglio, assistiamo alle diverse fasi della sua lotta per scegliere. Questa storia parla di esplorazione interiore e del viaggio verso l’accettazione di sé.
DIRECTOR STATEMENT
We think that the unknown must be more exciting than what we already know.
How can we possibly settle on just one path, knowing that infinite possibilities exist?
More choice would logically imply an easier decision and a better resolution, however instead of picking just one we just keep searching for newer and newer choices, thinking there must always be a better one. Paradox of choice leads to stress and in some cases even depression. However my goal was to make a short animation which focuses on the positives as well. The infinity of choice can be freeing in a way, there is joy in all the endless possibilities. Through Mr Rabbit’s journey we witness the different stages of his struggle to choose. This story is about self-exploration and the journey towards self-acceptance.
